Just wanted to touch base with you on the aerating and overseeding for Chestnut Springs. We have cut everything to a 2” height and are ready to go. I had hoped to get a bit of rain by now to allow for some penetration on the very dry non-irrigated yards but we’re in a bit of a holding pattern. I had our crew mow the community again today at the 2” height just to clean up thatch and maintain our prep., as well as avoid complaints from anyone who is watering sufficiently enough to have needed cut today.
We have a couple of options on the aerating at this point and would like your input. We can go ahead and do it next week knowing some of the yards are will a bit too hard and dry for ideal penetration from the aerators, or continue to wait until we get a decent rain and try to get right after.
Our ideal window is typically Sept. 15 – Oct. 15, but this fall has been so dry that I would extend that to Oct.31.
