This email came from a resident of Bridgeton Park, but as mentioned in the email the attempted abduction occurred in Chestnut Springs. I have not personally confirmed this report, but I spoke with Joe Finley from Brookfield who said that he knew the family, and while he had not spoken to the family since the event, he believes it to be true.

Yesterday about 2 pm, our 9 year old daughter was walking on the path at the end
of Kemah Ct in Chestnut Springs.
She noticed a car parked, light blue minivan, black stripe around the bottom.
She also noticed the windows tinted so you could not see in the van. As she
proceeded to walk off the path onto the street, the car started, a white male
opened the window and said:
"I have to ask you a question and started moving closer, with the car. At that
point she started backing up...He said"How old are you, what is your name and
where do you live?....He then said "I am looking for my 11 year old daughter,
can you help me? At that point, she remembered 3 things: adults do not need
help finding anything, AND a policeman in her class recently said "a person
trying to kidnap you is always trying to find something. She also remembered
run the opposite way of the car because it takes time for the car to turn
around. And she ran. She felt his arm reach out to grab her wrist. She ran to
the park where she saw 2 friends, she was crying and they brought her home.
We immediately called the police and he came right out. He said everyone needs
to be aware of this. Too many times it is too late.
I cannot tell you the range of emotions you go through as a parent. But most of
all we are thankful she had the wisdom and courage to actually think in this
situation. It was a beautiful day Saturday. We walk all the time in our
neighborhood. We always have felt safe and sort of live in a bubble here.
However, this person needs to be caught.
I pray every day for protection for our family and, our neighborhood, I believe
in the power of prayer. We also need to protect our children. The police want
any information we can give them. The man was white, bald on top with blond/grey
on the sides. HE had a tatoo on the left arm up by the short sleeve.
If you remember anything or see this person, please call Office Carter at
Brentwood Police, 371-0160.
